CRKD has entered the pro controller market with the ULT PRO, a new gamepad designed with Nintendo Switch 2 and PC players in mind. Priced at $69.99, the controller undercuts many premium alternatives while offering a substantial selection of enthusiast-focused features.
The ULT PRO includes TMR thumbsticks, trigger stops, profile selection, swappable stick toppers and a replaceable D-pad. On Windows, it supports 1,000Hz polling, while two additional shoulder buttons and four rear paddles provide more options for customizable controls.
Its BAYX face-button arrangement and asymmetrical stick layout make the controller’s Switch 2 focus clear. CRKD is offering separate Nintendo and PC versions, although the ULT PRO does not include gyro or motion controls—an omission that may distinguish it from some competing Switch 2 controllers.
At its $69.99 price, the ULT PRO enters direct competition with the 8BitDo Ultimate 2, which is similarly priced and also features TMR sticks, trigger stops, profile selection and an asymmetrical layout. The 8BitDo model additionally offers motion controls and a wake function.
CRKD instead puts greater emphasis on additional physical controls. Its four rear paddles are joined by the two extra shoulder buttons, giving players more programmable inputs than the two rear buttons found on the Ultimate 2. The slimmer paddle design also resembles the approach used on some higher-end PC-focused controllers.
A charging dock is included, further strengthening the ULT PRO’s value proposition. By comparison, Nintendo’s official Switch 2 Pro Controller is positioned at a higher price, while CRKD’s new model adds several features aimed at players who want greater control customization.
The ULT PRO does not attempt to compete with premium controllers on every specification. Features such as mechanical face buttons, extremely high polling rates and extensive software customization are absent. Instead, CRKD is concentrating on a broad collection of practical hardware features at a lower price.
The controller’s specifications make it a notable alternative to the official Switch 2 Pro Controller and other third-party options, although its real-world performance and ergonomics will ultimately determine how it compares. Those details will become clearer once the ULT PRO is tested in practice.
