Grand Theft Auto 6 is finally set to receive another major official update, ending a lengthy period without substantial information from Rockstar Games.

Rockstar officially announced GTA 6 in 2022, almost nine years after Grand Theft Auto 5 was released. The first trailer arrived more than a year after the announcement, followed by Trailer 2 in May 2025.

Trailer 2 remains the most recent major official presentation for GTA 6. Alongside the trailer, Rockstar released a collection of high quality screenshots that provided additional details about the game's characters and world.

Although numerous GTA 6 leaks have surfaced online in recent months, official information has remained limited. That will change on Thursday, August 27, when Rockstar releases a new Extended Look at the highly anticipated game.

The footage will debut on Netflix at 3 PM EST before being released on Rockstar's official YouTube channel approximately six hours later. Rockstar has not confirmed the exact length of the presentation or provided a detailed breakdown of what will be shown.

However, the Extended Look is widely expected to place a much stronger emphasis on gameplay. The first two trailers focused heavily on the game's characters, story, and setting, making a detailed gameplay presentation particularly significant for fans.

The recent leaks may have revealed portions of the game ahead of time, but they have generally appeared without much context. As a result, the official Extended Look could still provide important information directly from Rockstar and potentially showcase features that have not appeared in leaked material.

One major possibility is GTA 6's online multiplayer component. Rockstar has not yet provided substantial details about the game's eventual online mode, leaving fans uncertain about how closely it will follow the structure established by GTA Online.

It is also possible that the online experience will not be available immediately after the game's launch. Rockstar has previously indicated that its multiplayer games are designed to remain active for extended periods, but specific plans for GTA 6 Online have yet to be revealed.

The August 27 presentation therefore represents more than another trailer. It marks the end of one of the longest periods of silence surrounding GTA 6 since its announcement.

There have also been reports suggesting that additional GTA 6 showcases could eventually appear on Netflix following the Extended Look. Those reports have not been officially confirmed, but they have added further speculation about Rockstar's plans for promoting the game.

The leaked gameplay has already generated mixed reactions, although the age of the leaked build remains unclear. Differences between development footage and the final version could also mean that some of the criticism surrounding the leaks does not accurately represent the finished game.

After years of waiting, fans will finally be able to see what Rockstar is prepared to officially reveal when the GTA 6 Extended Look arrives on August 27.
