Xbox players can download and play five games at no cost until October 4 as part of the Free Play Days promotion. Unlike some previous rounds, which split the lineup between titles open to everyone and titles reserved for Game Pass members, every game this week is available to all players, including those without an Xbox Game Pass subscription.
Free Play Days launches every Thursday, and each round can include anywhere from one game to four or more. Last week's selection was The Escapists 2, PGA Tour 2K25, Young Suns, and The Division 2. This week's lineup is made up entirely of large open-world games, and each one is also on sale for players who want to buy it and keep it. Access to the free versions ends on October 4.
The promotion, which began the weekend of October 1, includes Far Cry 6, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora, Skull and Bones, and The Crew Motorfest. To claim them, players can open the Microsoft Store on Xbox, select the subscriptions tab, and go to the Free Play Days section. The section is available on Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.

Far Cry 6
Far Cry 6 is described by the source as the latest entry in the series at the time of writing. The game features Breaking Bad actor Giancarlo Esposito as the villain, dictator Anton Castillo. Players take on the role of Dani Rojas, who can be played as male or female, and lead a revolution to free the island of Yara from Castillo's rule. The game also includes a special backpack tool, animal companions, and third-person sequences during key moments.

Assassin's Creed Odyssey
Part of the series' open-world RPG era, Assassin's Creed Odyssey is set in Ancient Greece. Because of its early setting, the game places less focus on the Brotherhood than other entries, which the source notes makes it accessible to players new to the series. Players choose between two protagonists, Alexios or Kassandra, and a central goal of the story is reuniting with the sibling who was not chosen. The game includes a modern-day storyline, mythology, dialogue choices, character leveling, and a large world with naval combat and islands to explore.

Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora
Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora was the first of two open-world games Massive Entertainment developed outside of The Division, followed by Star Wars Outlaws. The first-person game was built using the official lore bible for James Cameron's Avatar film franchise, and its story is recognized as canon. Players control a Na'vi raised by the RDA who sets out to reconnect with their heritage and free their people from human forces. The western frontier of Pandora is fully explorable, combat uses both Na'vi and human weapons, and players have access to a flying mount. Post-launch updates added the option to switch between first and third-person views.

Skull and Bones
Skull and Bones faced criticism before launch over delays, reworks, and its showings at several conferences. Players begin as a shipwrecked outcast who takes jobs from well-known pirates and gradually builds a reputation of their own. Online worlds support up to 20 players, and players can form crews of three for sailing and combat. Ships carry different weapons, wind management plays a role both in and out of battle, and ranking up unlocks harder contracts and better gear. The game is entering its third year of support, with updates that have added features such as automated fleet management and sea monsters.

The Crew Motorfest
The final game in this week's Ubisoft lineup is The Crew Motorfest, set in a detailed recreation of Hawaii. The game uses playlists, which work as short campaigns built around specific racing themes. Players can switch between more than 700 cars from 50 manufacturers, including Toyota, and returning players can import their car collections from The Crew 2. Multiplayer modes include the Grand Race, which supports 28 to 32 players, and Demolition Royale, a mode inspired by battle royale games. The game also includes a track editor called TrackForge.
