Final Fantasy 14 players looking to collect limited-time rewards from the Final Fantasy 15 crossover event will need to plan carefully. Square Enix has announced a 24-hour server maintenance period that will temporarily prevent players from accessing the MMORPG, leaving only a short window to earn the event's exclusive items before the crossover ends.
According to Square Enix, Final Fantasy 14 servers will go offline on Monday, October 12, at 6:00 AM Eastern and remain unavailable until Tuesday, October 13. The maintenance will also affect several website features, preventing players from accessing parts of the game's online services throughout the downtime.
The timing is particularly inconvenient for anyone who has yet to collect rewards from the returning Final Fantasy 15 crossover. The event is scheduled to end on October 13 at 10:59 AM Eastern, giving players only a limited opportunity to finish their remaining activities once maintenance concludes.
Among the most desirable rewards is the Regalia Type-G, a stylish four-seat mount inspired by the car driven by Noctis and his companions in Final Fantasy 15. Players can also unlock Noctis' Lucian Prince attire and the Lucian Locks hairstyle.
The Regalia Type-G is available through the Manderville Gold Saucer for 200,000 MGP, the special currency earned by participating in activities at the in-game entertainment venue.
Players who still need the currency can take part in Gold Saucer attractions, including the Fashion Report, to work toward the required amount. However, with maintenance interrupting the final hours of the event, anyone who has not yet purchased the mount will need to act quickly.
The Regalia Type-G is particularly appealing because mounts that accommodate multiple players are often associated with real-money purchases through the Final Fantasy 14 Online Store. This crossover reward offers an alternative for players who can earn the necessary MGP before the event ends.
Although the Final Fantasy 15 collaboration has returned several times over the years, its limited availability means that players who miss this opportunity could face a lengthy wait for another rerun.
The extended maintenance will prepare the game for the introduction of Same-region Player Matching, a feature announced during the Anaheim FanFest event in April.
The feature is scheduled to launch in Japan on October 13. It will allow players on the Elemental, Gaia, Mana, and Meteor data centers to use the Party Finder and Duty Finder without having to travel to more populated data centers within the same region.
This change should make it easier for players to find groups and participate in multiplayer activities while remaining on their preferred data centers.
Square Enix has also outlined plans to introduce Same-region Player Matching in North America and Europe before the release of Evercold, the next major expansion scheduled for January.
Despite the extended downtime, Final Fantasy 14 players will not have to wait long for more information about the game's future. The Tokyo FanFest keynote is scheduled to air on Friday, October 30, at 10:00 PM Eastern.
The presentation is expected to reveal more details about Evercold, including the identity of the expansion's second new Job and a more precise release date.
For now, players hoping to collect the Regalia Type-G, Noctis' outfit, or the Lucian Locks hairstyle should prioritize those rewards before the crossover ends. With a full day of maintenance cutting into the event's final hours, there may be very little time left to complete any unfinished goals.
