PlayStation 5 players will have to wait a little longer to experience Forza Horizon 6. Originally expected to arrive on Sony’s console in 2026, the popular open-world racing game is now scheduled to launch on January 26, 2027. The release will also bring a new paid expansion to the entire Forza Horizon 6 community.
The delay gives PlayStation fans a confirmed date to look forward to, while the upcoming expansion promises another opportunity to explore the game’s world. Although details about the additional content remain under wraps, several features of the PS5 version have already been revealed.
The standard PS5 release is scheduled for January 26, 2027, with both physical disc copies and digital versions available. Players who purchase the Premium Edition can get behind the wheel five days earlier, starting on January 21.
The PS5 port is being developed by Panic Button, the studio responsible for bringing Forza Horizon 5 to the same platform. Playground Games and Turn 10 are collaborating closely with the team to bring the latest installment to Sony’s console.
Players will have two graphics options to choose from. Quality mode targets 4K resolution at 30 frames per second, while Performance mode aims for 60 frames per second for smoother driving.
Every PS5 preorder will also include a specially tuned Ferrari J50. The car will become available in the player’s garage after completing the game’s prologue, giving early buyers an exclusive-feeling addition to their collection from the start.
The PS5 version will support both cross-play and cross-saves with the Xbox and Steam editions. This means players can race with friends on other supported platforms and carry their progress between versions.
User-generated content will also be available across platforms, helping players enjoy creations from the wider community regardless of where they play.
These features make the PS5 launch more than a standalone release. Rather than separating PlayStation players from the existing community, the port will connect them to the broader Forza Horizon 6 experience.
The PS5 launch is not the only major date for Forza Horizon 6 fans. Microsoft has confirmed that the game's first paid expansion will launch on January 21, 2027, five days before the PS5 edition arrives.
The expansion will be included with the Premium Edition, Premium Upgrade, and Expansions Bundle. Players who own other editions will be able to purchase it separately, although its standalone price has not yet been announced.
Specific details about the expansion's setting, activities, and features have not been revealed. It is planned as the first of two paid expansions, suggesting that more additional content is on the way.
A free content update is also planned for 2027 across all platforms to coincide with the PS5 release and expansion launch. Further information about that update will be shared closer to release.
Forza Horizon 6 launched for Xbox Series X|S and PC in May 2026, taking the open-world racing series to Japan. Its setting offers a backdrop for high-speed driving, scenic routes, and car culture, giving players a new environment to explore.
The game received strong reviews following its initial release, and the PS5 version will finally give PlayStation players their opportunity to join the experience.
The previous installment, Forza Horizon 5, also found considerable success on PS5, making the next game's arrival a notable moment for the franchise's growing multiplatform audience.
With the release date confirmed, cross-platform features in place, and a paid expansion arriving in January, 2027 is shaping up to be an important year for Forza Horizon 6. More details about the expansion and free update are expected closer to launch.
