Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 was one of 2025’s biggest gaming surprises, earning widespread acclaim and becoming one of the most successful third-party games to arrive on Game Pass day-and-date. If you’ve been meaning to see what all the fuss is about, though, there’s not much time left. The award-winning RPG is leaving Game Pass on October 15.
That gives subscribers just under two weeks to begin the journey or finally bring it to an end.
If you’re mainly interested in the story, you can finish the main campaign in under 30 hours. Those who want to explore its optional content, uncover more of its world, and see everything it has to offer can easily spend more than twice as long with it.
Part of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33’s appeal is how it makes a familiar turn-based RPG formula feel surprisingly fresh. Its stylish world, memorable characters, and emotional story are paired with real-time dodge and parry mechanics that make even routine battles feel more active and engaging. It’s also one of the are JRPG-inspired games in recent years to reach well beyond the genre’s usual audience.
And if you make it to the end, there’s plenty more to think about, including a twist ending that makes the journey especially memorable.
But Clair Obscur isn’t the only notable game leaving Game Pass this month. The full list includes:
- The Casting of Frank Stone
- Clair Obscur: Expedition 33
- Crime Scene Cleaner
- Donut County
- Evil West
- Superball
- Nova Roma (Game Preview)
- Pacific Drive
- A Plague Tale: Requiem
There are some particularly good picks here if you’re looking for something atmospheric this October.
Pacific Drive is a strange and surprisingly absorbing sci-fi survival game where you explore an anomaly-filled exclusion zone from behind the wheel of a battered station wagon. Its eerie atmosphere and unusual premise make it stand out from the usual survival games.
A Plague Tale: Requiem takes things in a darker direction. Set in a plague-ravaged version of medieval Europe, it follows siblings Amicia and Hugo as they struggle to survive a world overrun by disease-carrying rats, violence, and forces far beyond their control.
And if you want something much lighter, Donut County is a charming puzzle game that can be finished in just a few hours. Its simple mechanics, playful humor, and wonderfully odd premise make it an easy recommendation when you want something relaxing between bigger games.
With several very different experiences disappearing from the service, October’s Game Pass departures are worth checking before they’re gone. But if you’re going to pick just one, Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 should probably be at the top of the list.
