Phantom Blade Zero has made an impressive debut, attracting more than half a million concurrent players on Steam within hours of its release. The action RPG from developer S-Game has quickly established itself as one of 2026's biggest gaming launches.
The game has generated considerable anticipation ahead of its release, with early sales estimates suggesting that more than one million copies had already been sold across PC and PlayStation 5 before launch. Its strong critical reception has also helped build momentum, positioning it among the year's notable releases.
According to SteamDB figures reported at the time of launch, Phantom Blade Zero reached a peak of 595,711 concurrent players within approximately 10 hours of becoming available.
The milestone places the game among Steam's biggest launches of 2026, trailing only the 1.0 release of Palworld in peak concurrent player numbers.
Its debut has also pushed it into Steam's top 20 all-time games by peak concurrent players, surpassing the previous records set by popular titles such as Hollow Knight: Silksong, Slay the Spire 2, and Terraria.
The achievement highlights the considerable interest in S-Game's martial arts-inspired action RPG, which draws on the Wuxia tradition of Chinese martial arts fiction.
The launch numbers could climb even higher in the coming days. Major Steam releases often experience another surge in concurrent players over the first weekend, particularly on Sunday, when more players have time to explore a new game.
If that pattern holds, Phantom Blade Zero could potentially expand its record-breaking debut and strengthen its position among Steam's biggest launches.
For now, its rapid rise past half a million concurrent players marks a significant milestone for the game and one of the most notable PC gaming launches of the year.
