A dedicated fan of the Prince of Persia franchise has reportedly offered Ubisoft more than €5 million (approximately $5.6 million) to resume development of the canceled remake of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time.

Originally announced in September 2020, the remake was initially scheduled to launch in January 2021. However, multiple delays pushed the release further into the future, leaving fans waiting for another chance to experience the classic adventure.

In January 2026, Ubisoft announced that the project had been canceled as part of a major organizational and operational restructuring. The publisher cited concerns about the game's quality and the financial resources required to complete development.

Now, one fan is hoping to change that outcome with an extraordinary financial proposal.

In an open letter shared on social media, the fan offered to help finance the remake without requesting a share of its profits or ownership of the intellectual property.

The letter explains that the motivation behind the offer is simply to see the game reach its audience and allow fans to enjoy the work already completed.

The fan stated:

"My motivation is not to obtain financial profits, a share of the sales, or any rights over the intellectual property. My only goal would be to help make this video game reach the players and allow the community to enjoy the work that has been done."

The proposed €5 million would serve as an initial budget rather than a final commitment. Any financial arrangement would depend on a formal agreement with Ubisoft, an assessment of whether development could realistically continue, and conditions established by the publisher.

The proposal offers Ubisoft an opportunity to reconsider the project with financial support from someone who clearly believes in its potential.

However, the offer does not guarantee that development will resume. Ubisoft would still need to determine whether the remake could meet its quality standards and fit within its broader development plans.
