The excitement surrounding Grand Theft Auto 6 continues to grow as Rockstar Games prepares to launch its long-awaited open-world adventure. With fans analyzing every trailer and eagerly anticipating its arrival, the game is already generating impressive commercial results.
According to estimates from market intelligence firm Sensor Tower, GTA 6 has reportedly sold approximately 7.71 million copies through preorders ahead of its November 19 release. These sales have generated an estimated $751 million in revenue, despite the game not yet being available to play.
The estimated sales breakdown shows that PlayStation accounts for 74% of preorders, while Xbox makes up the remaining 26%. Although Rockstar has not officially confirmed these figures, the estimates provide an indication of the extraordinary demand surrounding the upcoming release.
With more than two weeks remaining before launch, GTA 6 is already making its presence felt among the year's biggest commercial releases.
Current year-to-date sales rankings from Circana feature several major titles, including NBA 2K27, Resident Evil: Requiem, 007 First Light, MLB: The Show 26, Crimson Desert, and Call of Duty: Black Ops II.
While Circana's published rankings do not include total units sold, estimates suggest that Resident Evil: Requiem has already sold approximately 8.5 million copies. This puts GTA 6's reported 7.71 million preorders remarkably close to the sales figures of one of 2026's major releases.
However, the figures come from different market-tracking sources, meaning they should not be considered a definitive comparison or ranking.
With the November 19 release date approaching, GTA 6's preorder numbers could continue climbing. If Sensor Tower's estimates are accurate, Rockstar's upcoming adventure is already among the year's most successful commercial releases before players have even stepped into its world.
The game's enormous anticipation reflects the lasting appeal of the Grand Theft Auto franchise, which continues to attract players across generations.
Grand Theft Auto 6 launches November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, with expectations for one of the biggest gaming releases in recent years.
