Steam's co-op gaming library is about to welcome a new survival adventure designed specifically for two players. Just Us, an upcoming indie game from developer eelDev, puts teamwork at the center of a post-apocalyptic world where two people must rely on each other to stay alive.
Blending elements of cooperative adventures like It Takes Two with the survival and crafting gameplay of Valheim, the game offers a fresh take on the genre. Players will explore an open world, gather resources, build a home, and discover what secrets their surroundings hold.
Although no release date has been announced, Just Us is planned to launch through Steam Early Access. Interested players can already add it to their wish lists.
The story of Just Us takes place on a remote island in Sweden after global warming and rising sea levels have left most of the planet underwater. Players take on the roles of a couple who find themselves among the few remaining survivors, with limited resources and an uncertain future ahead.
Surviving will require plenty of cooperation. Both players must work together to find food, secure drinking water, build shelter, and maintain their health. However, the island may not be as deserted as it initially appears, leaving room for unexpected discoveries as the adventure unfolds.

Survival in Just Us goes beyond simply finding somewhere to sleep. Players will need to establish reliable food supplies by breeding animals, growing crops, and cultivating medicinal herbs in greenhouses. Managing these resources will be essential to maintaining their health throughout the adventure.
The environment also presents its own challenges. A sunny afternoon can quickly turn into a dangerous snowstorm or thunderstorm, making shelter and preparation important parts of everyday survival. Players will need to collect materials and gradually expand their base to create a safe place to call home.
Exploration is another major part of the experience. Vehicles will make traveling across the island easier, while boats will allow players to reach other islands and discover new locations. These journeys could provide valuable resources and potentially reveal more about the world around them.
Although Just Us focuses heavily on crafting, farming, and cooperative survival, combat also plays a role. Weapons, including rifles, will be available for hunting and defending against potential threats.
The developer has not revealed exactly what players might encounter while exploring the island. This leaves an element of mystery surrounding the world and suggests that nature may not be the only challenge standing between the two survivors and a peaceful life.
With its combination of relationship-driven cooperation, open-world exploration, and traditional survival mechanics, Just Us could offer an interesting alternative for players looking for a game to experience together. Its two-player focus also gives friends and couples a shared challenge where communication and teamwork could make all the difference.
Just Us is currently planned for Steam Early Access, although a release date has yet to be announced.
