Tripwire Interactive is opening new opportunities for independent developers, offering marketing, business guidance, and publishing support to help smaller games reach wider audiences.
Tripwire Interactive, the studio behind Killing Floor and Maneater, is expanding its publishing division, Tripwire Presents, with a new initiative designed to support smaller independent game developers.
The program will work with self-published indie games at different stages of development, including pre-release, early access, and post-launch. Rather than taking over the publishing process, Tripwire aims to provide developers with additional resources to strengthen their games' visibility and commercial potential.
Through the initiative, participating developers will receive support across several areas, including:
- Marketing and promotion: Cross-promotion opportunities, public relations, content creator partnerships, and event support.
- Platform relationships: Assistance with building connections across gaming platforms.
- Business strategy: Guidance on commercial planning, pricing, and discount strategies.
- Long-term growth: Advice on managing a game's lifecycle and maintaining its presence after launch.
Tripwire describes the partnerships as flexible and developer-friendly, with an emphasis on helping games find larger audiences while ensuring their creators benefit from their own work.
The company has not revealed the financial or commercial terms of these arrangements.
Bryan West, publishing director at Tripwire Presents, explained that the program was created to give promising self-published indie games greater visibility, particularly among players who already enjoy Tripwire's catalog.
He also highlighted the efforts of smaller development teams that have handled both game creation and promotion independently, noting that the initiative aims to provide additional support for their work.
The new publishing program is launching with five titles from independent studios, each offering a different gameplay experience.
- The Boss Gangster: Criminal Empire – Developed by BEF Games, this title is among the first games selected for the initiative.
- Starforged Legacy – A roguelike bullet hell game from Second Shift Games, combining challenging encounters with the genre's familiar replay-focused approach.
- Mars Attracts – Developed by Outlier Games, this park management simulation gives players the opportunity to build and manage their own attraction on Mars.
- One-Eyed Likho – A folk horror adventure from Morteshka, the studio behind Black Book, bringing folklore-inspired storytelling into the experience.
- Eslabong – Created by shirowita, this tactical strategy game blends combat planning with mercenary club management.
Tripwire Presents' expanded publishing efforts could provide smaller studios with valuable resources without requiring them to manage every aspect of promotion and commercial strategy alone.
For indie developers, reaching new audiences can be just as challenging as creating a game. With established industry connections and a dedicated player community, Tripwire's initiative could help promising titles gain the attention they deserve while giving players more opportunities to discover fresh experiences.
