Nintendo’s new The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 console includes a hidden tribute that many early buyers may not have noticed. Under the dock cover, players will find pixel art of Link and Zelda holding pieces of the Triforce, surrounded by 16 heart containers—the maximum health total from the original NES Legend of Zelda.
The console launched on October 29, though its release was complicated by retailers overselling launch-day stock. Despite the rocky rollout, demand for the green-and-gold hardware has remained high, with pre-orders continuing to sell out quickly.
The Easter egg is not technically secret, but it is easy to miss. Nintendo placed it deep in the official store’s image carousel—nine images in—and it does not appear in the console’s reveal trailer.
The design adds to the console’s more visible Zelda details, including Triforce decals and fully colored Joy-Con 2 controllers. For fans who managed to secure one, the hidden artwork gives the limited hardware an extra layer of collectible charm.
Nintendo has also packed references into the wider Zelda 40th Anniversary Collection. The back of the new Switch 2 Pro Controller features a retro-style Link mid-attack, while the collection’s carrying case includes a microfiber cloth embossed with more pixel art from the series.
It is not the first time Nintendo has hidden small details in its hardware. The Game & Watch included a hidden Triforce, and the Mario-themed red Switch 2 featured coins on its rear panel.
For players who missed out on a pre-order, the hidden pixel art may only deepen the FOMO. But for those who secured the console, it is a small, thoughtful reward for opening the box and taking a closer look.
