A recent datamine of Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave has surfaced a large set of unused or unreleased character endings, prompting debate among fans about several proposed romances. The files appeared online following AI-assisted jailbreaking of the game, though it remains unclear whether the endings are intended for upcoming DLC or were cut during development.
The most discussed endings involve Theodora and Leda. In one leaked pairing, Theodora marries Bonaventure—her older advisor and a father-like figure—and the two have children while leading Saramis into an era of education and writing. Fans have questioned the romance because the game does not appear to establish that kind of relationship between them beforehand.
Another leaked ending pairs Leda with Bertrand, leaning into the love-hate tension the game has already suggested between them. Some fans see potential in a complicated trauma bond, but criticize the ending’s writing for making Leda simply devoted to Bertrand rather than exploring the unhealthy dynamic in a more meaningful way.
Not every leaked ending has drawn criticism. Fans have highlighted strong material for Talimun, Bertrand, Orchel, Ludia, Fianna, and others, including a poignant non-romantic story between Nezha and Sha Lan. In that ending, Sha Lan creates a dish in Nezha’s memory after his death, keeping it permanently on her restaurant’s menu.
The leaks have also renewed conversation about queer representation. While Fortune’s Weave includes some same-sex pairings and queer characters, many of the leaked endings either avoid explicitly confirming romance or present predominantly heterosexual outcomes. Fans point to the contrast between clearly romantic language in some pairings and more ambiguous wording for others, such as Leda and Olympia or Bertrand and Goliath.
There is still reason for caution: datamined content is not necessarily final. Nintendo has confirmed that Fortune’s Weave Wave 3 DLC, arriving in 2027, will add new stories centered on Bertrand, Talimun, Orchel, and Anatolia, along with new allies and classes—so some leaked material may eventually appear in a revised form, while other files may simply be remnants of earlier development.
For now, the leaks offer a fascinating but incomplete glimpse behind the scenes. Whether these endings make it into the game or not, the response shows how much players care about seeing character relationships written with clarity, consent, and emotional honesty.
