Card collectors have something new to look forward to, as The Pokémon Company is reportedly working on the first Pokémon TCG set built around Valentine's Day. The release is expected on 27 January 2027, according to Poké Beach, a TCG news outlet with strong industry connections. Poké Beach reports that this will not be a regular expansion in the vein of Pitch Black or Chaos Rising. Instead, it is described as a limited seasonal release, closer to the Halloween themed Trick or Trade sets.
Based on early reports, the set will include roughly 30 cards with a pink and red colour theme. Psychic type Pokémon are expected to make up a large part of the lineup, since Fairy does not exist as its own type in the TCG. Rather than introducing new exclusive cards, the set is said to be made up mostly of reprints carrying a special Pikachu stamp. That stamp could be a pink, heart themed version, following the same approach as the orange pumpkin stamp on the Trick or Trade Halloween set.
The cards are expected to come in small packs designed as gifts to go along with Valentine's cards, a format that could appeal to both players and more casual fans. Supply may be limited, as has been the case with other recent seasonal products. Sealed Trick or Trade Booster Bundles, for example, have sold at high prices even though they contain reprints and no art cards.
For longtime collectors, the report points to TPC bringing back holiday themed sets after two years without a Trick or Trade release. A Valentine's set aimed at a wider audience could also draw some demand away from the main sets, which have been difficult to find and heavily targeted by resellers.
Two major releases are still scheduled before the Valentine's set launches: the second 30th Anniversary set and the Delta Reign expansion. Delta Reign is a Rayquaza themed set planned for early November 2026.
