Nintendo Switch Online subscribers can access Hello Kitty Island Adventure at no additional cost through Nintendo's Game Trials program. The trial became available on October 9 and runs until October 15 at 11:59 p.m. PT. Subscribers can download and play the full game during this period without a limit on playtime. If they decide to purchase the game afterward, their save data from the trial can carry over to the purchased version. The Nintendo Switch version is also available at a 45% discount through the Nintendo eShop for the duration of the promotion.

Nintendo Switch Online offers subscribers access to a library of classic games, including titles from the NES era. Members with the Expansion Pack also receive access to selected downloadable content, such as the Booster Course Pass for Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Happy Home Paradise for Animal Crossing: New Horizons. On Nintendo Switch 2, the service also includes GameCube games. Hello Kitty Island Adventure is the latest title to join its limited-time Game Trials offering.

The life simulation game has been compared to Animal Crossing, with players building an island paradise and forming friendships with Sanrio characters, including Kuromi and Cinnamoroll. The game has received regular updates since launch. On October 8, it received the 3.0 "Welcome Home" update, which introduced Creative Mode, along with new Layouts, Kits, and additional content.

The Game Trial follows eight other games featured in the program during 2026. Previous selections have included EA Sports titles such as Madden NFL 26 and EA Sports FC 26. Nintendo has also offered Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown through a September Game Trial. The program provides temporary access to selected games, allowing subscribers to try them before deciding whether to buy them.

Hello Kitty Island Adventure joins other life simulation games available on Nintendo's Switch consoles, including Animal Crossing: New Horizons, Disney Dreamlight Valley, and Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream. Nintendo Switch 2 also received Pokemon Pokopia in early 2026, which the source describes as one of the most popular games on the platform. The current Hello Kitty Island Adventure trial offers subscribers another opportunity to try the genre without paying for the game upfront.
